Welcome to the Welch Tennis Courts August eNewsletter! Plan Ahead - Summer Will Be Gone Before You Know It! |
|
Now's the time to start planning your fall court renovations! Even though you may want to wait until after the storm season to finalize the ultimate details, today is when you should be getting a pretty good idea of just how much work your courts need. Check the courts after a heavy rain to see how they drain. Inspect the courts closely after play. Here are a few questions to ask yourself:1. Is water ponding at the low end of the courts? 2. Are there puddles behind the baselines or in the service boxes? 3. Are your line tapes torn or worn smoothly? 4. Can you see an exposed side on any of the brick curb or is the top of the curb buried by clay at the low end? 5. Is the stone base visible in some areas? 6. If you take a knife or screwdriver and dig small holes, is there at least a half inch of clay in all areas of a court? 7. Do the courts have a nice surface texture with a good amount of granular sliding material on top? These are some of the observations that need to be made and evaluated. Start thinking about what you will need in materials and manpower. Schedule material deliveries and refurbishing so that it can be completed comfortably in advance of the winter season. And, if it's not something that your own maintenance personnel can carry out or if you're uncertain about just what needs to be done, please give Welch Tennis Courts a call for an assessment and job estimate. |
