Welch Tennis Courts offers a variety of tennis court lighting to accommodate every tennis court situation. From recreational play to tournament play, Welch can add lighting to new courts as well as existing tennis courts. Welch Tennis Courts can provide a turn-key lighting installation, or provide the equipment only.

The Courtsider XL is considered to be community-friendly, meeting IESNAs full cut-off classification.

LSI Courtsider XL Lighting Features:
  • The one-piece aluminum housing features square corners which are welded to produce a clean edge while increasing housing strength and ensuring weather-tight construction. One-piece construction eliminates the worry of moisture entering from poorly sealed top pans and side panels.
  • The LSI Courtsider XL offers a Forward Throw (FT) reflector system designed specifically for perimeter lighting applications to eliminate stray light and produce a sharp backside cutoff.
  • The Courtsider XL is available in six (6) standard finishes which will go with any court environment. DuraGrip�, LSI Courtsider Sports Lightings revolutionary superior baked-on polyester-powder finishing process, gives the fixture an exceptionally attractive appearance. This unique polyester protection lets the fixture withstand extreme weather changes without cracking or peeling. Finish is guaranteed for five full years.
  • The Courtsider XL is designed to utilize a 1000 watt Metal Halide lamp.
  • Porcelain sockets feature spring-reinforced contacts for long life.
  • Four-inch diameter bracket slipfits four-inch diameter tenon pole for a smooth transition. Hardware to level the bracket is internally threaded, concealing it from view for a cleaner appearance.
  • Clear flat tempered glass lens.
  • Continuous one-piece EPDM gasket for maximum sealing.
  • Fixture mounting height: At a mounting height of 22 feet, the Courtsider XL effectively distributes the proper amount of light to surrounding areas. This low mounting height also creates less of a shadow during daytime play hours.

Building for the Best

Welch Tennis Courts, Inc. has been chosen four times in the past four years to construct the tennis courts for Davis Cup Matches: St. Petersburg, Florida 1991, and 1995; Kansas City, Kansas, 1992; and Minneapolis, Minnesota, 1993. Many other major tournaments have been played at facilities built by Welch, such as the fast dry tennis courts for the US Clay Courts at Wild Dunes Beach and Racquet Club and Kiawah Resort in Charleston, South Carolina; the HydroGrid courts at Kensington Golf and Country Club in Naples, Florida, site of The Cadillac Tournament and the 1995 Legends; and the eight red clay fast dry courts at The International Tennis Center, site of the Lipton Cup in Key Biscayne, Florida. Combining our highly trained personnel and the use of laser equipment, enables us to provide quality court construction on a competitive basis anywhere in the world. RLS Court Lighting Equipment

RLS TE-2000 Lighting Features:
  • Specular aluminum forward throw, sharp cut-off reflector.
  • Rear light control shield (optional).
  • Two (2) 1000 watt metal halide bulbs in one fixture (in the RLS TE-2000 twin lamp high output luminaire. The two 1000-watt lamps in a single housing reduce equipment costs.
  • Four poles per single court provide comparable lighting levels as to a typical 8 pole 1000 watt system. Half the poles mean a reduced installation cost.
  • Extruded aluminum housing is designed to withstand 150 mph wind loads.
  • Removable power modules make servicing easier and safer.
  • Standard 27 foot mounting height makes lob shots visible to 30 foot plus.
  • Retrofitting with effective mounting height of 25 to 40  replacement of obsolete flood lighting on existing poles is simplified.
  • Optional adjustable forward cut-off shield for even greater spillage control.

In stock, ready to ship in either black or tennis green. Note: RLS Lighting equipment should always be installed by a properly licensed contractor and qualified electricians.

RLS Fixtures have electrostatically applied, baked-on dry powder polyester coatings. Under normal atmospheric conditions they will meet or exceed the voluntary specifications as set forth by AAMA 605.2-92.

RLS-1000-EC Lighting Specifications:

  • Ballast: 1000 watt metal halide high power factor constant wattage autotransformer, multi-voltage 120, 208, 277 volt.
  • Reflector: Forward throw, sharp cut-off, die-formed to ensure consistency using a very highly specular aluminum sheet.
  • Lens: Clear, fully tempered, (FT) as per ASTM C1048-92, 1/8 thick impact resistant glass lens framed in extruded aluminum and silicone sealed.
  • Lens Frame: Extruded aluminum mitered to form the frame affixed to the housing with aluminum hinges and secured with low profile, easy-opening fasteners. A continuous neoprene gasket is employed to ensure seal.
